What makes an image beautiful?

Ever wondered why one artwork sings whilst another just looks ordinary?

This workshop will appeal to artists, photographers, designers and people who want to make the most of their creative ideas as it focuses on how to turn hum-drum pictures into extraordinary images.

Develop your eye for design and learn to create beautiful, dynamic pictures. Through a series of talks and exercises you will learn to employ simple principles and techniques when creating your artworks enabling you to design successful pictures every time. This course will teach you how to make captivating images that really stand out.

Beginning in the classroom we will examine some of the key principles of good design. How to select a strong subject, where to place objects within the picture plane, how to create a focal area and when to simplify are just some of the questions to be addressed. As we take each idea in turn, we will begin with a talk and demonstration, then progress onto working on location, employing your newly learned knowledge in plein air studies of your own.

A real must for anyone looking to improve their understanding of how to make a picture feel balanced, interesting and memorable.

Suitable for learners of all levels in all media, this workshop is also excellent for photographers and designers as well as artists in all media.
